Hello Everyone,
Well done to everyone involved in making the school Fete such a wonderful success! From the rides, stalls, and food vans to the overall atmosphere, it was a fantastic community event. A huge thank you to all the P&C members who supported the amazing work done by Cassie and Sarah - your dedication truly made a difference.
Positive Behaviour Learning (PBL)
At our school, we pride ourselves on being safe, respectful learners and community members. Everyone is working hard to ensure that all students not only have a safe place to learn but also a thriving environment for their growth and development. Similarly, all staff deserve a safe and respectful workplace, as respect is a fundamental part of building strong community connections.
Uniform
As the weather is still cool, please ensure your children are wearing the correct school uniform, including socks, uniforms, and jackets. Uniforms foster a sense of belonging and pride in our school community.
NAPLAN
We are thrilled to celebrate our success with the latest NAPLAN results. In Year 3, our school is performing above the national average in all five domains. In Year 5, our students are above the national average in Reading, Spelling, Grammar and Punctuation, and Numeracy, with writing just slightly below the national average. This achievement is well-aligned with our overall achievement data. In discussions with staff, it’s clear that every teacher, across every year level, plays an important role in contributing to the success of all our students.
Finally, I want to sincerely thank all parents for your ongoing support in your child’s learning journey. Together, as a team, we continue to provide a well-balanced curriculum, enriching extracurricular activities, and essential social support to nurture our students.
Thank you for being a vital part of our school community!

Book Week
This year the theme for Book Week is ‘Book an Adventure’. Have you seen the amazing display in the library to celebrate this fun and exciting theme?
We’ve had a fabulous time in the library this week with ‘Lunch time stories’ with many different staff members volunteering to read a story to our students.

On Friday we saw a sea of colour as students came to school dressed as their favourite book character for our annual Book Week parade. Thank you to all the families who were able to join us at our special parade to see our spectacular production ‘Hairy Maclary from the Freshie Family’.

Prep 2026 Enrolments
We have commenced our Prep enrolments for 2026 and already we have met so many excited little people and families who will join Freshwater in the new year. Children have enjoyed playing in our pop-up classroom in the library while families have had the opportunity to speak with a member of the leadership team. Thank you to our wonderful prep teacher aides for supporting children during these enrolment interviews. We look forward to seeing our families back in Week 8 for our Prep Stay and Play event which is another opportunity for children to orientate and transition into Freshie with a fun indoor/outdoor program organized.
RAK Club
This past fortnight in our Random of Acts of Kindness Club, we have been busy continuing to add leaves to our ‘Kindness Tree’ in the library. Students enjoyed cutting out the leaves and writing how they can show kindness at school, in the community and in the home. In the RAK club this week, we also listened to a story about ‘How to be a Bucket Filler’. Students will continue with a fun activity around bucket filling next week in the RAK club.

Thank you to Eve in Year 4 for your random act of kindness, your flowers were a lovely surprise to receive and absolutely made my day.
The Random acts of kindness are continuing to spread with children opening doors for visitors in the office, giving a compliment or just picking up rubbish in the under-cover area to keep the school clean and tidy. Let’s continue to spread these small acts of kindness across the school so it becomes contagious.
Have a great weekend.

This fortnight, our focus was chosen with the contxt of the last to weeks in mind:
Be a Safe, Respectful Learner when using walkways.
Parentline: Support and Advice for all Queensland Parents and Carers
Being a parent can be rewarding—but it can also be challenging. Whether you’re trying to support your child with school issues, friendship challenges, behaviour, or tough moments at home, it’s completely normal to feel unsure about what to do next.
Parentline is a free and confidential service available to all Queensland parents and carers. No problem is too big or too small—and reaching out early can make a real difference.
Parentline offers advice and support on a wide range of parenting topics, including:
-
bullying and friendship issues
-
parent–child relationships
-
parenting strategies and behaviour management
-
mental and emotional wellbeing—for both children and parents
You can speak with a trained professional by phone or webchat (6am-midnight), seven days a week.
An online bullying support forum is also available. This is a safe, moderated space to connect with others, ask questions, and share experiences.
