P&C CHRONICLES

We hope you’ve had a fantastic start to Term 3! On behalf of the P&C, I wanted to share some exciting updates and important dates with you all.

First, we’re thrilled to welcome Gabrielle Ingram as our new tuckshop convenor! Gabrielle has hit the ground running this term, and we’re so excited to have her on board. At the same time, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to Mel, who will be finishing up in her fulltime role the tuckshop mid next week. Mel will still be with us in the tuck shop but just on a casual basis. Mel has given so much time and care to the role and we’re incredibly grateful for her dedication to our school.

Our Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) team will be participating in a partial Assessment & Rating (A&R) on the 31st July and 1st August. This is an important opportunity to highlight the quality of care our OSHC service provides. We’re proud of the team and know they’ll do a fantastic job showcasing the nurturing environment they’ve created for our students.

We’re also pleased to share that the P&C now has a full executive team! A huge thank you to everyone who has stepped up to take on a role, we’re stronger and more effective when we have a complete team working together.  At our recent special meeting we welcomed our new Secretary Jamie Thompson and Vice President Amy Jephcott.  Jamie and Amy have joined Carla (our Treasurer), Paul (Vice President) and myself to give us a full complement in our P&C Executive team.  We’re looking forward to working together to continue to support all of the P&C’s staff, the school and of course all of our Freshwater SS students and families.

Looking ahead, the Freshwater State School Fete is just around the corner, Friday 15th August! This is one of the biggest and most exciting events of the school year, and we need your help. We’re currently seeking sponsorships and donations, so if you or your business can contribute in any way, please give generously. Every bit helps make this a special day for our whole community.  Check out the extra information in our dedicated Fete update in this newsletter.

I’m also happy to provide an update on the community consultation process for our multi-purpose hall.   A few members of our P&C, along with a number of school community members and Department staff have been participating in a Community Consultative Group to discuss design options for the multi-purpose hall.  The process consisted of three facilitated meetings, each exploring and addressing different options and aspects of hall designs.  The meetings provided an opportunity for a whole range of views about the hall to be discussed in a really positive and collaborative way.  At the conclusion of the process, the group has provided a recommendation to the Department about the placement and design elements of the hall.  We are anticipating that the Department will continue to share information about the process with the school community and will advise us of the outcome of the process soon.  I’d like to thank all of our school community representatives who willingly shared their time and expertise to contribute to the discussion on behalf of our school community.

Our next P&C meeting is happening on Monday 4th August. Everyone is welcome, we’d love to see new faces and hear your ideas.

At the heart of everything we do - whether it’s fundraising, volunteering, or simply turning up to support an event - are our students. They are our number one priority, and it’s only by working together as a strong and connected school community that we can continue to give them the best possible school experience.  So thanks again from the P&C for your ongoing support.

Let’s make the rest of Term 3 a great one!
