A MESSAGE FROM OUR DEPUTY PRINCIPAL FOR LOWER PRIMARY

As we wrap up another vibrant and busy term here at Freshwater State School, I want to take a moment to reflect on the many achievements and memorable moments shared across our Prep to Year 3 classrooms.

This term has been one of connection, creativity, and kindness. Our Prep families were warmly welcomed to attend an information session on Tuesday afternoon to understand and learn how we teach phonics at Freshwater in the early years and the excellent resources we use, setting the tone for a supportive and collaborative learning journey. It’s been wonderful to see our youngest learners settling in so confidently, building friendships, and growing each day. Thank you to our wonderful Prep team for facilitating this information session for our families.

A major highlight this term was our Under 8’s Day – always a favourite among students, staff, and families. The joy on the children’s faces as they explored activities, games, and creative play was a true celebration of early childhood. Equally colourful and full of fun was our Colour Explosion, where students, staff, and even some brave parents embraced the spirit of community and wellbeing (and a whole lot of colour!).

Another standout initiative was our Random Acts of Kindness Challenge. It was heartening to see our students actively seeking ways to spread kindness throughout the school – from helping a friend to sharing a smile. These small but powerful actions have helped to strengthen the caring culture we’re so proud of at Freshwater.

And of course, who could forget Crazy Socks Day? From polka dots to stripes and every pattern in between, our school was a colourful parade of creative footwear, with students showing off their individuality and school spirit – all while supporting a great cause.

Throughout the term, our students have continued to grow academically and socially. Whether they were learning to read, exploring numbers, or diving into inquiry-based learning, the enthusiasm for learning has been palpable across every classroom.

To our dedicated teaching and support staff – thank you for your commitment and creativity. And to our families – your partnership makes a world of difference, and we are so grateful for your support.

As we head into the school holidays, I’d like to wish all of our students and families a safe, restful, and joyful holiday. I look forward to welcoming everyone back on Monday 14th July for another exciting term of learning and discovery.

Have a wonderful school break,
